Dear Parent/Guardian or Former Student:

We are now in the 2026-2027 school year. I would like to take the opportunity to advise you that your special education records or special education evaluations are available to be picked up.

In accordance with the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education requirements, school districts must destroy the temporary record of students no later than seven years after the student graduates {603 CMR 23.06 [3]). Your special education file/special education evaluation is considered a "temporary" record, and the Student Services Office intends to destroy the record on Friday, November 20, 2026. Please be aware that your record includes all original IEPs, evaluations, and other special education documents. The Student Services Office is located in the School Administration Building behind Town Hall, on the 3rd floor, above the Senior Center.

Please be advised that when you pick up the record, it will be the original file, and no copies will be held in the office for future reference. If you do not choose to take the special education file, as noted above, it will be destroyed on Friday, November 20, 2026. It has been our experience that your record can be of importance and value to you in the future. Rather than allow your record to be destroyed, we strongly recommend that you pick up your special education file at our office.

Please call the Office of Special Services in advance at 978-247-7045 to make arrangements to pick up your records. I appreciate your careful consideration of the policies and procedures mentioned above. As always, please feel free to call my office if you have any questions. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Toth, Ed. D.
Executive Director, Special Servies
