Interim Superintendent appointment:

The Andover School Committee is pleased to announce that it voted unanimously in January 2026 to appoint Keith Taverna as Interim Superintendent. The vote follows Dr. Parvey’s recent announcement that she has accepted a superintendent position in New York.

Mr. Taverna assumed the role of Interim Superintendent on March 2, 2026, and will serve through June 30, 2026. His appointment ensures continuity and stability for the district as the Committee undertakes a comprehensive search for a permanent superintendent.

The School Committee has full confidence in Mr. Taverna’s leadership and experience and looks forward to working closely with him as he guides the district through this important transition.

About Mr. Taverna:

Mr. Taverna is a familiar face in our schools and community. Since 2022, Mr. Taverna has served as the assistant superintendent of Administration and Finance for Andover Public Schools, overseeing district-wide financial operations and administrative functions, ensuring fiscal responsibility and alignment with strategic priorities. His strong background in finance, organizational efficiency, and management is a significant asset to the district.

Prior to his work in Andover, Mr. Taverna served for 12 years in various roles in the Danvers Public Schools, including interim superintendent and assistant superintendent of Finance and Personnel. He holds professional licensure in Massachusetts as a Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent and as a School Business Administrator.

Superintendent's Advisory Council

The purpose of the Superintendent's Advisory Council is to share meaningful conversations, receive candid feedback, and solicit the council’s insights and ideas as liaisons for the Andover community.

Superintendent & Student Advisory Council

The first Superintendent and Student Advisory Council launched in the 2025–26 school year, with twenty-six Andover High School students meeting regularly with the superintendent. The primary purpose is to empower high school students with insights into the workings of the school district. The SSAC offers students a platform to contribute their perspectives on a range of district initiatives and actively participate in a council to provide the superintendent with non-binding consultation.

Budget Advisory Council

The purpose of the Budget Advisory Council is to facilitate productive conversations and to identify community priorities in developing a balanced budget with transparency and in partnership with key stakeholders.

Redistricting Advisory Council

The Redistricting Advisory Council consists of APS staff members and APS parents/guardians. The role of the ad-hoc advisory council is to provide non-binding consultation to the superintendent and her administrative team during the APS redistricting process and implementation.
