APS Equity Vision

Overview

In Andover Public Schools (APS), we believe that every student deserves to feel seen, valued, and supported. With that dedication and commitment, we launched an Equity Visioning process to better understand what equity truly looks and feels like across our schools—for every child, every family, and every staff member.

Rooted in our Strategic Roadmap, the APS Equity Vision statement represents months of thoughtful collaboration, honest reflection, and meaningful dialogue with members of our school community.

APS Equity Vision Statement

“Andover Public Schools strives to be a safe, welcoming, and inclusive district where all students feel seen, heard, valued, trusted, and respected for who they are and who they want to be. All staff members in Andover Public Schools endeavor to foster an environment in which students and families are well-informed, engaged, and accepted.” “Every student will receive access and opportunity to high-quality, student-centered instruction and targeted support designed to help them meet their academic and personal goals. The curriculum and resources provided will equip students with the tools they need to succeed in the future."

The Process

In Spring 2024, the district conducted an Equity Audit in partnership with Public Consulting Group (PCG). The focus of the audit was to review APS’s instructional practices, as well as its overall climate and culture. As a result of the audit’s findings, PCG recommended the development of a shared Andover Public Schools’ Equity Vision statement.

In Fall 2025, APS once again collaborated with PCG and launched an Equity Visioning process to better understand what equity truly looks and feels like across our schools. Throughout the 2024-25 school year, PCG conducted visioning sessions with members of the APS community to gather insights on their perceptions of and vision of equity.

On June 5, 2025, Dr. Parvey presented the final draft of the Equity statement to the School Committee. The Committee voted 5-0 to affirm the district’s continued commitment to the Equity Vision at APS.
