In light of our community’s recent loss, and communication earlier today, we would like to share resources that may be helpful alongside our district’s planned interventions and supports.

 

Many families may be looking for ways to talk to their children about this type of loss. The resources below provide families with age/development-appropriate considerations:

Should your child need more direct or individualized support, the following resources offer advice and services that may be helpful:

Local Agencies and Other Resources:

  • The Children’s Room - caring grief support for children, teens, and families: https://childrensroom.org/ 

    • Family-focused organization that provides support for the entire family including parent-specific resources, peer support groups, high-quality teen focused program, family nights, etc.

    • Resources through the Children’s Room

  • Care Dimensions, Danvers MA  Grief Support in Massachusetts | Care Dimensions

    • Provides phone consultations, educational resources, individual counseling for children at home/school/or Care Dimensions office, individual counseling and support groups for adults, children’s bereavement groups, teen events, and family nights

In addition, as noted in our previous communication, APS mental health professionals will be available in the Doherty Media Center on Monday June 22 and Tuesday June 23 from 11:00am-3:00pm. If you have a question about supporting your child during the summer months, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
