WEL Weekly Update Week of Monday, June 7, 2026- Friday June 12, 2026 | | |
| | | Dear West El Community,
Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Lauren McCarron on her retirement!
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Lauren for her 22 years of dedicated service to Andover Public Schools. Throughout her career, she has brought immeasurable love, joy, and learning to countless students, families, and colleagues. Her passion for education and commitment to children have left a lasting impact on our school community.
Recently, Lauren was honored at the district’s annual Retirement Breakfast alongside her colleagues who are also stepping into retirement—and, in true celebratory fashion, dancing into this exciting new chapter. This year’s breakfast recognized an extraordinary milestone: more than 800 years of collective service to the children and families of Andover Public Schools.
As Lauren begins this next adventure, we wish her many happy days filled with boating, time on the Cape, great books, and the music she loves so deeply. As a classically trained violinist, we have no doubt that she will continue to share her gift of music with children and bring its joy into her own life as well.
Thank you, Lauren, for all you have given to our students and our community. We wish you a retirement filled with happiness, adventure, and beautiful music.
Congratulations and best wishes! Dr. Cobbs & Dr. Donaher
| | Grade 5 Track & Field Day A heartfelt thank you to the Andover Public Schools Physical Education Department for organizing another outstanding Grade 4 and Grade 5 Track and Field Event. This annual tradition provides students with an opportunity to demonstrate their athletic skills, sportsmanship, and school pride while celebrating the joy of healthy competition. We would also like to extend special thanks to West Elementary's own Mr. G, Mr. Tiller, and Mr. Stephens for their dedication in preparing our athletes. Their care, encouragement, and support helped our students feel confident and ready to compete.
A special shout-out goes to our Grade 4 runners, who earned first place in the annual Elite Runners Event! We are incredibly proud of their hard work, determination, and impressive achievement. Congratulations to all of our student-athletes for representing West Elementary with enthusiasm and excellence! | | | | | | | | Important Update: New Medication Order Requirements for the 2026-2027 School Year The Massachusetts Department of Public Health guidelines regarding the administration of medication in public schools have been updated. To ensure we remain in compliance with these new state regulations, and to provide the highest level of safety for our students, the district has updated its policy regarding the validity period of medical orders.
New Medication Order Requirements:
Effective immediately, all medical orders for both prescription and non-prescription medications must be dated within the current academic cycle: July 1st through June 30th.
What this Means for your family:
- Annual Renewals: Any medication orders on file from the previous school year will expire on June 30th. You must provide a new, signed medication order from your child’s licensed prescriber for the upcoming school year.
- July 1st Start Date: We encourage parents to schedule wellness visits or contact their child's physician after July 1st to ensure the paperwork is correctly dated for the full upcoming school year.
| | APS Bus Registration for the 2026-27 School Year Please make note that bus pass registration for the 2026-2027 school year will be open June 1, 2026 through July 24, 2026.
Below is information for registering your child for transportation. Additional information is also available on the APS website. Bus Registration
Please note that the process for registering a grade 6 student for transportation changed last year. Moving forward we will no longer use paper request forms; an online Google form is available on the APS website. | | Are you Moving or Going Private Next Year? Please help us as we begin to plan for our classrooms and scholar supplies for next school year! If your family is moving out of the Sanborn district, or if your student will be attending a private school next school year, please let us know by completing the form linked below as soon as possible.
It is critically important information as we plan our classroom placements and scholar supply ordering for next year. The office will prepare records for transfer to the new school, but records will not be sent until we receive a request from that school. | | | | | | | | Smore Use Smore to create beautiful newsletters |
