West Elementary Weekly Update Week of Monday, June 2nd - Friday, June 6th, 2025 | | |

| | West Elementary School Boosterthon Fun RunA huge thank you to the West Elementary School PTO and the entire West El community for making our recent fundraiser such a success! Thanks to your incredible support, we raised over $22,000—an amazing achievement that will directly benefit our students and school programs. The kids had an absolute blast, and the highlight of the day was seeing Ms. Donahue get slimed—a moment they won’t soon forget! We are so grateful for the generosity, enthusiasm, and school spirit shown by everyone who contributed. | | | | Congratulations to the West Elementary School Girls on the Run Team!We are thrilled to celebrate the incredible achievement of the West Elementary School Girls on the Run team, who proudly completed the 20th Annual 5K Run this weekend in Boston! Under the inspiring leadership of coaches Ms. Juliano ( Grade 1 teacher) and Ms. Cogliano (parent volunteer), these determined young athletes demonstrated strength, teamwork, and school spirit that made West El proud. Through fun, evidence-based lessons, it empowers girls to discover their inner strength, build confidence, increase physical activity, and stand up for themselves and others.
Beyond their athletic accomplishment, the team also made a meaningful impact off the course by organizing a community service project to collect books for Andover's Memorial Hall Library—truly embodying the spirit of giving back. | | West Elementary Food Rescue Program Update On Friday, the Village Food Hub was thrilled to receive six large bags of rescued food—including 21 lbs. of bananas! Thank you for continuing to support this effort. One adjustment we made is to hold off on accepting milk donations from students, as it can be easy for some children to take a milk just to donate it. A kind gesture, though part of our mission is to not just rescue but to educate our kiddos on food waster and only taking what we need. We’re now heading into the seventh and final week of our demonstration pilot program, which wraps up on Friday, June 6th. Afterward, we will prepare an evaluation of the program and will prepare a report. Your participation has been greatly appreciated! There are still open shifts available for this final week—please reach out to Ms. Meredith Moody at 978-807-4251 if interested. | | Lost & FoundWe plan to donate all clothing items, water bottles, etc. on June 13, 2025. Please encourage children to check the lost and found, or stop by on your own while visiting campus. Remember to check-in with the office and receive a visitor's badge. | | | Andover Youth and Family Treasure HuntYou're invited to participate in the 1st Andover Treasure Hunt! Register before the start of the treasure hunt to get the daily clues and shrinking map. Inspired by Project Skydrop, the hunt will be a fun outdoor activity for local youth and families to problem solve and explore the outdoors on Andover's awesome trails! | | Thank you Andover PD For Stopping By! A big thank you to the Andover Police Department for sending four of their community officers to welcome the West El community last week! We appreciate their partnership and continued support in helping foster a safe and welcoming environment for our students and families. | | | | Last Day of SchoolOur last day of school is June 13th and it is an early release day. If you and your family are not returning to West El next year, please email our front office and fill out the appropriate withdrawal and transfer papers. This does not apply to grade five students going to an Andover Middle School, rather to those moving from the district or otherwise switching schools. | | | Smore Use Smore to create beautiful newsletters |
