Dear APS staff, families, and community members,
It is bittersweet that I am writing to share that I have accepted a superintendent position in New York. As many of you know, New York is my home, and I am excited for the opportunity to return to the state where I began my educational career.
I am proud of the work we have accomplished on behalf of our students. Over the past several years, we have attracted exceptional building and department leaders, implemented new Math and ELA curricula, created a middle school schedule that better supports our student needs, exceeded pre-pandemic MCAS results in Math for grades 3-8, celebrated the opening of West Elementary and Shawsheen Preschool, committed to an Equity Vision Statement, and proudly recognized West Middle School as a National Blue Ribbon School.
I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the many community members who supported my tenure at APS. Your collaboration and partnership have been essential to the achievements noted above and to the strong daily experience our students have in our schools.
My new district is requesting that I begin prior to the end of this school year. I am committed to providing support to the School Committee during this time of transition and will update the community regarding my last day at APS following discussions with the Committee. It has been an honor serving the students and families at Andover Public Schools.
Sincerely,
Dr. Magda Parvey
