Dear APS families,

I hope the summer months offered you a chance to rest and spend meaningful time with loved ones. It’s hard to believe that we’ll be welcoming students back to school next week and I’m excited to reconnect with our educators and families as we begin this new school year together. I’d also like to extend a warm welcome to the new families joining our district. I’m confident you’ll find the APS community to be a supportive and welcoming place

At APS, we remain committed to building a school environment rooted in belonging and collaboration—one where all students are empowered to thrive. Our students are at the center of all we do and I look forward to a year of strong partnership and shared growth with our staff and families.

I'm pleased to share that in June, the School Committee unanimously approved the APS Equity Vision Statement, a product of the insights from students, staff, and families who contributed to the 2024 APS Equity Audit. This statement affirms our commitment to creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive district—one where all students feel seen, heard, valued, trusted, and respected for who they are and who they want to be.

Building on a successful year of community engagement, I will continue meeting with my advisory councils to engage community feedback on important  topics, including supports for families who will experience redistricting in the 2026-27 school year and budget planning. I am encouraged by the input received during our Let’s Talk! Community forums and look forward to continuing these conversations throughout this school year. Finally, after three years of construction on Beacon Street, we are thrilled to open the new school for Shawsheen students and staff this school year, marking the completion of the West Elementary and Shawsheen Project.

Thank you for your partnership and continued trust in us. I wish you all a wonderful final week of summer and a fantastic start to the school year.

Sincerely,
