Dear APS families and staff,
The Andover School Committee has been informed of the resignation of Superintendent Magda Parvey, who has led the district since 2021. During her tenure, Dr. Parvey successfully guided APS through the challenges of COVID-19, implemented much-needed curriculum changes to strengthen our academic programs, and oversaw the opening of our newly-constructed West Elementary and Shawsheen Preschool. Dr. Parvey leaves Andover having assembled a strong team who will continue to carry out the important work that has already begun. She will provide support for an effective transition prior to her departure.
The Committee will soon meet to consider steps for selecting an interim superintendent, as Dr. Parvey has requested to leave prior to the end of this school year. Additionally, the Committee will discuss launching an extensive search for a new, permanent superintendent, with the intention to fill that position for July 1, 2026. This process will include comprehensive feedback and engagement from the community.
From her first day in the district, Dr. Parvey led with her dedication to Andover students and always kept them at the center of her decision-making. She has worked hard to ensure that our schools are becoming places where everyone belongs, strives, and thrives.
We have appreciated Dr. Parvey’s commitment to focusing on curriculum alignment, social-emotional learning, and outreach to the community. Her efforts built a solid foundation for the future of APS, and we look forward to our continued progress. We join together in wishing Dr. Parvey the best of luck in her return to New York.
Sincerely,
Shauna Murray, Chair, Andover School Committee
Dr. Lauren Conoscenti, Vice Chair, Andover School Committee
