South School Families, As we wrap up a wonderful opening week for our students in Grades 1–5, we are thrilled to welcome both new and returning families to South School! It has been wonderful to see so many smiling faces in our classrooms and hallways, and we hope your children are settling into their new routines. We look forward to welcoming our kindergarten students on Tuesday!
Thank you to our families for your continued trust, support, and partnership. We have many exciting events and opportunities planned for the year ahead, including our upcoming Open House on Wednesday, September 16th. Please continue to watch for updates and more information.

** If you are picking up your child, your car must be in the car-pick up line. Please do not pick up your child from the parking lot or across the street. Students dismissed as "walker" are only for those students who will be walking home.
** For the safety of our students, parents (and pets) are only allowed to walk their children to the edge of the playground. Only students and staff can be on the playground and fields in the morning. Quick drop-offs are greatly appreciated.
** If you are picking up your child by car, please write your last name on a piece of paper with a Sharpie or black marker and have it in your window upon arrival. This will help speed up the process. Thank you! |

The district’s goal is to improve how families receive information, making it more accessible, timely, and responsive to different needs. With communications automatically translated into families’ preferred languages, and options to receive updates by email, app, voice, or text, ParentSquare supports meaningful engagement across the APS community.

Host Families Needed Each year South Elementary School welcomes new students to our student body. Host families would meet and familiarize a new family with South School. They help answer any questions the new family may have as well as form friendships with the new students/family entering South School. All students are able to receive 1 free breakfast and 1 free lunch daily during the 2026-2027 school year. Breakfast will be served in the cafeteria from 8:45 - 9:00 and does not need to be ordered ahead of time.
Lunches will need be preordered. It is very important that our cafeteria has an accurate lunch count each day. Please review with your children each morning what you have ordered for them.

Visitor Aware All parents who would attend the school for any reason including volunteers, concerts, grade level presentations, etc. will need to register through Visitor Aware.
