I keep hearing about coaches for educators and executive directors for instruction at the elementary and secondary levels. What role do they play?
  • Coaches in the district are members of the Andover Education Association’s Unit A. Coaches are experts in a specific curriculum (i.e., math, English, Humanities, STEAM) and are responsible for improving student achievement and learning by providing support and leadership to staff in their classroom practices in elementary or middle school instruction, curriculum, and assessment.
  • Executive Directors of Elementary and Secondary Instructional Operations are instrumental in the coordination of district, school and community initiatives intended to improve student achievement across all elementary curricular areas with a special emphasis on literacy and math skill development. They work in close coordination with teacher leaders, coaches and building principals to ensure consistent curriculum and instructional practices are implemented at all grade-levels.
