Facial coverings act as a barrier to reduce the transmission of droplets in the air through coughing, sneezing, talking or other activity that projects secretions through the air. These coverings may be in the form of a 2-3 ply mask or neck warmer or similar form-fitting item and the fabric should completely cover the mouth and nose. Masks, bandanas and scarves are not considered to be effective coverings and are not acceptable.
On September 3rd, the School Committee adopted a new policy regarding Face Coverings. This policy was passed following input from MASC, APS legal counsel, Andover’s Public Health Division, Student Services, and Central Office administration along with two readings of the policy at School Committee meetings on August 19th and September 3rd to allow for input from the public.
