Junior Parking & Bus Pass Information


Each year, we receive several calls from parents/guardians of AHS juniors asking if they should purchase a bus pass if they plan on purchasing a parking pass for the high school. If you want to avoid paying a late fee and want to secure a seat on the bus then you may want to purchase a bus pass.  

During the last few weeks of the school year, seniors may pick up a parking pass application (for the following school year) and purchase their parking passes first. Once seniors have purchased their pass and have been assigned a parking spot, the remaining parking spots will be available for juniors to purchase through a lottery system.  

The junior parking pass applications are available in the main office usually during the second or third week in September. An announcement will be made when these applications are available. Only junior students with a valid driver’s license and a vehicle to drive at the time the application is completed, can apply for a parking pass. Students will be selected through a lottery system and with only a limited number of spots available there is no guarantee your student will be selected for a parking spot. They are randomly selected and availability is limited.  

If you purchase a bus pass and are selected for a parking spot, you can return your bus pass with a written request for a refund. Refund requests received by the Transportation Office on or before September 30th will receive a full refund (excluding late fee). Written requests for refunds received after September 30th will be refunded on a pro-rated schedule posted in the Student Transportation Policy available online.
