Language Enriched Academic Program (LEAP)
Students in LEAP have average to above average intellectual abilities with dyslexia and/or related language based learning disabilities. The program offers systematic and specialized language-based instruction across the four content areas of English Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies. Students appropriate for the program are reading at least 2 to 3 grade levels below expected range. Students with behavioral or intellectual disabilities are not candidates for this particular program. Referral to the program is part of the TEAM process.

A variety of phonology, fluency, and comprehension methodologies are utilized based on each child’s individual needs. Some of the methodologies utilized include, but are not limited to, Orton-Gillingham based systematic, multi-sensory instruction in analytic-synthetic phonics and spelling, Elkonin based Phonemic Awareness such as Lindamood Bell, systematic and data driven fluency programs such as Great Leaps, Read Naturally, and/or Improving Fluency with High Frequency Word Phrases (Fry & Rasinski), Comprehension Tool Kit, and systematic leveled book reading with comprehension using the Fountas and Pinnell leveling system.
