Modified schedule for Friday, March 12th
Update of the student scheduling process for the 2010-2011 school year:

Tomorrow, Wednesday March 10th, all students, except seniors, will be meeting by classes with counselors to discuss the 2010-2011 scheduling process. This week you will receive a mailing detailing the online course selection process. We are excited to introduce an on-line component to the course selection procedure.

On Friday, March 12th, we will follow a modified schedule for students to meet with teachers to assist with advising for proper course selection. Students will follow their current schedule for half of the day, and then revert to their first semester classes to receive proper advisement from the teachers they had in the fall. Seniors are released from campus at 12:05 PM to accommodate this process.

Starting the week of March 15th, counselors will be meeting individually with students ensuring proper course placement for next year. We anticipate completion of the individual advisement sessions by the end of the month.

Please contact:
Dr. Luz Valverde, assistant principal, for any questions regarding accessing the online portal for scheduling;
your son/daughter’s counselor for questions about course selections;
program advisors or team leaders of the appropriate departments if you have any questions about course content.

Contact information (phone numbers and email addresses) for each of these individuals can be accessed on our website.

Thank you in advance for your assistance with this process. We are here to assist you and your son/daughter through this new scheduling procedure.

X2 Student Information Mangement System to be used as AHS new list serv communication for parents
The Andover Public Schools have contracted with Alert Now for our reverse 911 notification system. Some of the features of the Alert Now system has that our current list serv does not are that Alert Now allows for larger emails, attachments, and graphics; therefore, starting in December, the Andover High School will be switching from our old limited list serv system to the higher capacity Alert Now system. The Alert Now system accesses its parent/student contact information from our X2 Student Information Management System (SIMS). It is important that we have updated parent email addresses so we may keep you informed of important Andover High School information, events, and activities. Unfortunately, our old list serv system does not have names associated with email addresses, so we are unable to simply transfer the data from one system to the other. The High School Administration is asking you to please contact Ms. Gould, Registrar at cgould@aps1.net with your name, student name, and email address you would like added or amended to this information. The system can only accommodate one email address.

As we move forward with this transition, please be aware that you may be receiving “test” emails.

Thank you for your cooperation.
