Andover High School is one of 50 high schools nationally to win the award in 2007-08. One high school per state is selected in recognition of its commitment to students and leadership in AP participation and performance.

Andover High School Named A Commonwealth Compass School - Leading the Way

Andover High School has been named as one of twelve schools in Massachusetts that have made outstanding academic progress by the Mass. Dept of Education. The Commonwealth Compass School program was developed by the state to recognize and celebrate school improvement and to encourage sharing of exemplary practices. The Commissioner of Education, David Driscoll, noted that 200 schools were invited to participate and 80 submitted applications. There were 16 finalists who underwent on-site reviews and 12 of those were selected for this honor and recognition. Andover High was one of only three high schools in the state recognized for this achievement. Mass Insight Education Recognizes High Performing Schools

Names Eleven Public Schools 2005 Vanguard Models

 As part of a statewide initiative to highlight exceptional progress to raise academic standards in the public schools, Mass Insight an independent not-for-profit organization focused on improving achievement in Massachusetts' public schools has named 11 public schools, one of which is Andover High School. Finalists were selected based on 1) MCAS performance over several years compared to schools serving student enrollments with similar demographics  2) Coherence and promise of articulated strategies  3) Evidence that change models could be scaled up to other communities.
